Varsity Tigers Help Train New Imperial Crop of Grid Iron Players

DSC_0294IMPERIAL – Imperial Tiger Football does not return to the gridiron officially until late August but preparations have already begun, not just for next season, but many more to come.

“It’s a great day to be a Tiger,” said Imperial High Tiger head coach, Kerry Legarra, at an Imperial High hosted Mini Camp for the kids of Imperial Pop Warner.

The mini camp consisted of drills and line/skill position lessons, led by Coach Legarra and assistant coaches, Victor Cruz, Raymond Culp, and David Shaw.  Along with the coaches, the Tiger youth were also able to hear and learn from some of their favorite Friday night football players face to face, as members of the Tiger varsity squad were on hand to provide any needed assistance to their coaches.

“This camp was very successful, great turnout, with the kids working hard and having fun,” said Coach Legarra on the event which was attended by nearly eighty future Tigers.

With two IVL titles in its first five years of IVL play, an up-and-coming Pop Warner program, youth enthusiasm, and a football-loving community behind them, the future of Tiger football looks brighter than ever.
