 Desert Mirage felled by Calipatria

(August 31, 2012: Calipatria, CA 92233) In Friday’s non-league game, the Calipatria Hornets (Calipatria, CA) football team were victorious over the visiting Desert Mirage (Thermal, CA), by a score of 26-10.

The Hornets (1-0) will now prepare for their game against San Diego Jewish Academy (San Diego, CA). The Lions come into the non-league game with a 0-0 record.

Central overwhelms Kofa

(August 31, 2012: El Centro, CA 92243) The crowd at Friday’s non-league contest between the Central Spartans (El Centro, CA) and the visiting Kofa Kings (Yuma, AZ), observed Central‘s football squad bounce Kofa by a tally of 40-7.

The Spartans now possess a 1-0 record. They play next when they travel to Coachella Valley for a non-league contest on Friday, September 7. Central will play a Arabs squad coming off a 70-0 non-league loss to West Valley (Hemet, CA). The Arabs record now stands at 0-1.

Next, the Kings encounter the Gila Ridge Hawks (Yuma, AZ) in a non-league outing, on Friday, September 7. Kofa will attempt to upgrade on its 0-2 season record. The Hawks go into the outing with a 2-0 record after their 41-6 non-league win over Yuma (Yuma, AZ).

 

Game recap: Mohamed and Krigbaum drive Brawley past Indio 

Jared Mohamed ran for two touchdowns and Zachary Krigbaum added two as Brawley (Calif.) bested Indio (Calif.) 33-0 on Saturday.
 After taking the lead on in the first quarter, the Wildcats led 26-0 at the half.
Brawley put up 20 points in the second quarter en route to the win. BHS scored on Krigbaum’s touchdown run , a touchdown run by Krigbaum and a touchdown pass by Joshua Godinez in the quarter.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season’s game between these two teams, which the Rajahs took, 49-27.
Indio has now lost two games in a row, including a 61-0 loss versus West Valley last week.

In a non-conference game tilt next week Indio (0-2) takes on Hemet, and Brawley (1-0) will go up against Hoover in a non-conference game.

Imperial Holds off Cibola

Imperial (Calif.) saw its 15-point lead dwindle down to seven, but still managed to hang on and defeat Cibola (Yuma, Ariz.) 21-14 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a rushing touchdown in the second quarter, the Tigers led 14-0 at the half.
Imperial saw its 14-point halftime lead fall to one entering the fourth.
The Raiders’s Steven Vargas was the standout player for his team during the game. He threw two touchdowns and caught two touchdowns.
The defeat comes as a step back for Cibola, which notched a 30-6 victory over Lake Havasu in its previous outing.
Imperial (1-0) will play a non-conference game against Valley Center next week, while Cibola (1-1) will take on Yuma in a I Section I game.

Southwest topped by Morse

 

(August 31, 2012: San Diego, CA 92114) The Southwest Eagles football team (El Centro, CA), was beaten 42-13 in Friday’s non-league challenge with the host Morse Tigers (San Diego, CA)

The Tigers (1-0) will now prepare for their challenge against Ramona (Ramona, CA). The Bulldogs come into the non-league challenge with a 0-1 record. In their last test, Ramona was defeated by Grossmont (El Cajon, CA), 28-24, in a non-league test.

With the loss, Southwest moves to 0-1 on the season. The Eagles host Clairemont (San Diego, CA) to confront the Chieftains in a non-league test on Friday, September 7. The Chieftains go into the test with a record of 1-0. Clairemont won 25-21 in their recent non-league test against Bishop’s (La Jolla, CA)

 

Holtville held off by Calexico

(August 31, 2012: Holtville, CA 92250) In Friday’s non-league game, the Calexico Bulldogs (Calexico, CA) football team got by the host Holtville Vikings (Holtville, CA), by a score of 14-10.

The Bulldogs (1-0) will now prepare for their game against Desert Mirage (Thermal, CA). The come into the non-league game with a 0-2 record. In their last game, Desert Mirage was tipped by Calipatria (Calipatria, CA), 26-10, in a non-league game.

The Vikings now sport a 0-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Southwest for a non-league game on Friday, September 7. Holtville will battle a Raiders team coming off a 62-0 non-league win over Crawford (San Diego, CA). The Raiders record now stands at 1-0.
