BRAWLEY – The undefeated Brawley Lady Wildcats hosted the Holtville Vikings Thursday in the final game of volleyball league play where the Wildcats defeated the Vikings three sets to zero.
Both teams rallied back-and-forth in the first period until the Wildcats took control and pushed the score to 13-7.
On the Brawley’s next serve, the Vikings sent the ball flying back to Wildcat Savannah Contreras, who set up teammate Logan Nemlowill for a successful spike, bringing the score to 14-7.
On the next possession, the Wildcats kept things going with another spike by Nemlowill, and the score was 15-7.
But the Vikings gained some ground to bring the score closer at 15-9, and Holtville’s serve turned into a great rally that gave the Wildcats a point on an out call and moved the score to 16-9. And the Wildcats pushed forward after a big miss big by Holtville to add one more point.
On Brawley’s next serve, the ball was hit back to their side of the court and Brenna Berker spiked the ball, bringing the score to 18-9.
With the Wildcats maintaining the lead for the remainder of the first set, they closed things out with a score of 25-12.
Brawley won the second set with a score of 25-14 and then took control in the third set with a final score of 25-12, defeating the Vikings three sets to zero.
With this victory over the Vikings, the Wildcats finished off league play with an undefeated record of 12-0. They move on to face Serra High School Nov. 1 for a home play-off game.
