EL CENTRO — The El Centro Police and Fire Dispatch Center received a report of a multiple vehicle accident May 29 at 4:47 p.m., that ocurred at Eighth Street and Treshill Road., just south of the railroad tracks, according to an ECPD report.
The first El Centro Fire Department unit arrived, according to the report, on scene within four minutes of the call at 4:51 p.m. and found three vehicles involved. One vehicle rolled over on the street and one occupant was pinned in the vehicle, a second vehicle with major damage was partially submerged in a canal. The sole occupant was assisted by bystanders. A third vehicle was found with moderate front-end damage with two additional occupants.
El Centro and county firefighters performed vehicle stabilization, provided medical treatment and care, and coordinated the patients’ transportation along with AMR ambulance and REACH Air, per the release. Two occupants were transported from the scene via ground ambulance to local hospitals and two via air ambulance to out-of-county trauma centers.
The release said that a total of two engine companies, one rescue squad, and one battalion chief responded bringing nine firefighters to the scene from the El Centro Fire Department. Resources from the Imperial County Fire Department added two engine companies, and one battalion chief bringing seven firefighters to assist. AMR ambulance responded with three ambulances and REACH Air provided two airships for patient transport. Other cooperating agencies included the Imperial Irrigation District, Imperial County Sheriff’s Dive Team, BORSTAR, Imperial Police Department and the El Centro Police Department.
