BRAWLEY – As IVL Softball action looms undecided, Holtville (7-1), Central (5-1), and Brawley (5-2) are atop the conference after serving up a handful of blowouts while Calexico (2-3), Palo Verde (3-5), Imperial (2-4), and Southwest (1-3) are still in search of consistency.
After eight contests, the Lady Vikings have produced big from the batter’s box with a 10.75 runs per game average and have given up an average of 2.25 runs per game. The Lady Spartans have relied on their gloves to contribute to the run support as Central has blanked three of the five schools they’ve faced. Central started off the preseason on fire with five straight wins before losing a 2-0 rock fight in the Gold & Silver Classic Championship game to Mar Vista Saturday, March 7. The Lady Spartans were scheduled to commence IVL action Friday, March 27 versus the cross-town rival Lady Eagles at Southwest High at 6:30 p.m.

Calexico is just below .500 at 2-3. After winning their first two games by a combined score of 22-1 with one shutout, the Lady Bulldogs have given up three of their last three contests. Palo Verde has chalked up W’s but just hasn’t been able to string two victories together.
