LOS MOCHIS, SINALOA — With a grand performance by ace, Eduardo Vera, who allowed only two hits, and a pair of homers by Dany Castro, the Mexicali Aguilas defeated the Los Mochis Caneros by the score of 4-1 to take the series.
Since he arrived in Mexicali, Pedro Mere has appeared on the mound for seven outings where he has only been defeated once to situate the Aguilas with a more favorable opportunity for success during their 2019-2020 campaign.
The “Feathered Fliers” went ahead in the first inning when Leo Heras ignited the bats with a single up center field. After stealing second base, Heras advanced to third on a long ball by Dany Castro and then crossed home-plate after a sacrifice fly by Alejandro de Aza for the 1-0 Mexicali lead.
In the fourth inning, Justin Williams connected a clean double to center field and then shortly after was batted-in on single by Hector Hernandez, which extended the lead to 2-0.
Mexicali produced another rally in the sixth inning, which began with a hit by Xorge Carrillo, followed by a sac-fly by Hector Hernandez, and then a single by Dany Castro produced the third run of the contest which elevated the lead to 3-0.
In the seventh inning, the Caneros loaded the bases with one away when Lorenzo Quintana sent a line-drive to the wall. Aguila outfielder Dany Castro attempted to zip a laser to the cut-off man but a wild throw resulted in an error and a score by Leandro Castro to break the goose egg at 3-1.
The Aguilas responded with the finisher when Dany Castro bombed one over the left field wall for the final score of the 4-1 Mexicali victory.
For the next series, the Aguilas will return home to Estadio Farmacias Sta. Monica to welcome the Cd. Obregon Yaquis December 3, 4, and 5 at 7:30 p.m.
