Sheriff’s Office and CDC speak to students in Holtville during Red Ribbon week.


Red ribbonHoltville - The Imperial County Sheriff’s Office and the California Department of Corrections (C.D.C.) teamed up to provide Red Ribbon Week presentations to over 700 children in the Holtville Unified School District.

Sr. Deputy G. Figueroa from the Sheriff’s Office provided a presentation on the effect, damage, and harm that drug abuse causes to individuals.

C.D.C. Officer F. Holt and his K-9 partner demonstrated the use of a K-9 in law enforcement. Both officers stressed to the students the ongoing battle against drugs of abuse.

Red Ribbon Week was begun in remembrance of DEA Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena who was killed in the line of duty while fighting the war on drugs.
