Council Member Ryan Kelley said, “The idea behind this is to promote citizenship in our community. I’d like to see us establish a Medal of Citizenship to recognize someone in our community who did something nice for someone else.â€
“We are very proud of you, Sheila,†said Mayor George Nava. “We wanted to show you our appreciation. Congratulations.â€
Riley received a bouquet of flowers from the City. Â Â
A representative from the office of Assembly Member Manuel Perez presented Riley with a Certificate of Appreciation from the State Assembly.
“Thank you very much,†said Riley. “I didn’t expect this at all. I just hope that if anybody was in this situation they would do the same thing. I really appreciate it.â€
