State Senator Ben Hueso

(Imperial Valley, CA) – This Tuesday, October 1, Senator Ben Hueso, Chair of the Senate Select Committee for California’s Energy Independence, will bring Senate President pro Tem Darrell Steinberg to the Imperial Valley for a site visit and tour of the Salton Sea and renewable energy investments in the area.

Also participating in the tour will be State Senator Bill Emmerson and Assemblymember V. Manuel Pérez, as well as local government officials, the Imperial Irrigation District, and other energy stakeholders.

The tour is an action on behalf of the Select Committee for California’s Energy Independence to assess how state and local government collaboration can facilitate future investments to encourage regional economic growth.

The Select Committee was formed in 2013 to explore the potential for new technologies that create jobs for Californians while protecting consumers’ rights to reliable access to energy from renewable and sustainable sources.
