San Luis, Ariz. – A U.S. citizen presently living in San Luis, Rio Colorado, Sonora, Mexico, was arrested Friday by Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of San Luis for attempting to smuggle more than a pound of methamphetamine and a quarter pound of heroin into the U.S.

CBP officers referred Felipe De Jesus Gomez, 22, for additional inspection when he attempted to cross through the pedestrian lane. After a narcotic detection dog alerted officers to Gomez, they located the drugs strapped to his thighs.

The drugs, valued at $24,134, were seized. Gomez was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
