PMHD Wound Care Center receives award

BRAWLEY – For the fourth year since its opening in 2008, the Pioneer Memorial Health Care District Wound Care Center has received the “Center of Distinction Award” in conjunction with Hospital Week.

Healogics, Inc., a wound care management company, gives this award to centers that have achieved outstanding patient outcomes for 12 consecutive months, including patient satisfaction, which is over 92%, and over 91% wound healing rate, among other quality outcomes.

Healogics manages over 500 centers nationwide.

The PMHD Wound Care Center (WCC) is one of 124 centers nationwide to receive the award this year and 1 of 7 in California.

Serving over 1,000 patients in 2012, the WCC attributes its success to the teamwork among the program director, the medical director, the nursing staff, physicians, and hospital administration.

The PMHD Wound Care Center has an outstanding commitment to quality health care.

The rapidly aging population suffers from chronic diseases such as diabetes, arterial and venous diseases, as well as other conditions that lead to non-healing wounds.

The WCC has earned an excellent reputation here in the community and has become a place to turn to when someone is faced with chronic non-healing wounds.

Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District has received numerous awards and continues to grow and add services that make it unnecessary for patients to travel elsewhere for their medical needs.

The PMHD Wound Care Center has proven itself to be another asset to PMHD.

The PMHD WCC staff consists of Medical Director Dr. Francisco Tirol, Dr. Virgilio Almaden, Dr. George Fareed, Dr. Michael Bishop, Program Director Monica Torres, Clinical Nurse Manager Gabriela Casillas, RN, Mario Aguirre, RN, HBO Tech Ernesto Valencia, CNA/HBO Tech Renee Obeso, Administrative Assistant Angelica Valenzuela, and Administrative Assistant/CAN Ashlee Contreras.

“I’m very proud to accept this award on behalf of the Wound Care Center staff,” said Medical Director Dr. Francisco Tirol. “I call them my family.”

The Wound Care Center is located at 751 West Legion Road, Building #2, Suite 205 in Brawley.

Their phone number is (760)351-4848.
