The Cattle Call Mini Rodeo Committee extends their sincere thanks to all the sponsors and volunteers who helped make the 31st annual “Mini Rodeo for Special People” a great success. Volunteers of all ages from around the Imperial Valley were involved in the production, helping set up for the events, providing stock and equipment, and competing in the events.
Thank you to John Muse for announcing, Mario Roacho of Extreme Pro Audio for the sound system, Hugh Kissick Jr. and Dan Williams for prepping the arena, Donald Alford liaison from the Brawley Cattle Call Rodeo committee, Leonard Vasquez for the wagon, National Anthem singer Kayla Kemp, the Calipatria PAL’s Dreamers Dance Crew, Cattle Call Queen Jessica Friley, Teen Queen Cidney Roper, Junior Queen Demi Vogel & Little Miss Abigail Childers. Thank you also to NAFEC Volunteer Coordinator Kelly Jeangilles and the crew from NAF, Travis Dove and John Hannon for their cattle and the roping teams, AMR Ambulance, Brawley Fire Department, and the BCCR parking crew.
We would also like to give a big thank you to our sponsors: the SELPA Program at Imperial County Office of Education, Jack in the Box, Dr. Glenn Sarot, CalEnergy Operating Co., Luke Hamby Construction, Larry Fleming, Friends of David Willingham and Karen Reed, and various other anonymous donors. Special thanks go to the parents and contestants, the arena & grandstand crew from the BUHS Rodeo Club, and our many kid clowns for showing the crowd great comedy entertainment.
This year, 1,000 students were treated to a donation gift of horse puppets and a Cattle Call Mini Rodeo coloring book program in memory of David Rutherford and Karen Reed, in addition to a backpack from Jack in the Box.
We could not do this special event without the help of all these people giving their time, talent, and resources. It is as rewarding to the Mini Rodeo Committee, volunteers, and sponsors as it is to our special audience who experienced an exciting morning of rodeo action.
