Readers should know that Project Labor Agreements make hiring local, trained workers, and creating opportunity for local apprentices, a basic priority. They put local hiring down on paper. Eric Christen is misrepresenting the entire point of PLAs. If he had his way, there would be absolutely no commitment to hiring our friends, family, and neighbors from the Imperial Valley.

This isn't a theoretical possibility. Project Labor Agreements hold contractors accountable to high standards for wages and workplace safety, they prioritize local hiring and they actually save money in the long run by controlling costs and increasing quality.,

A commitment to the Imperial Valley means backing Project Labor Agreements that support local workers. Companies that believe in the Imperial Valley and ratepayers who demand quality work, completed on time, also support Project Labor Agreements. Support our community. Support Project Labor Agreements.

Signed,

Sterling ”Arkie” Mayes Jr.
