August 4, 1945 – October 15, 2017
Retha Castleberry, 72, of Imperial went to be with the Lord peacefully on October 15, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Born to Charlie and Bessie Kent on August 8, 1945 in Andrews, Texas, she was the youngest of 11 children.
Retha married Daniel Castleberry on April 14, 1961 in Ardmore, Oklahoma, and then moved to the Imperial Valley in 1962. They made their home in Imperial where they raised their 5 children.
Retha was a devoted wife, mamma, granny, sister, aunt, and friend. Family meant everything to her. She loved fishing and camping on the All American Canal, music, singing, dancing, and just being around her grandchildren. She would say she had so much love for her grandbabies she could not find the words to explain it. She later said it was a Heavenly Love she had for them.
Retha was preceded in death by her loving husband of forty-four years Daniel Castleberry, her son Danny Castleberry and grandsons Anthony Allen Castleberry and Roy Falcon Jr.
Retha Castleberry is survived by her daughters Kathy (Danny) Severe, Brenda (Jason) Shaffer, Linda (Roy) Falcon, her son Tony (MonaLisa) Castleberry. She is also survived by her brother Billy Kent, sister-in-law Cruz Castleberry, fourteen grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren that she loved dearly.
Chapel service for Retha will be 11:00 a.m, Friday October 27, at Frye Chapel and Mortuary in Brawley followed by burial service at Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.
