Manuel J. Avila
October 16, 1952 – September 29, 2017

Manuel J. Avila was born on October 16, 1952. He married Irene Avila August 25, 1972 in El Centro, CA. and they resided in Brawley, CA.

Manuel started his law enforcement career as a police officer for the city of Westmorland for a year.  He then transferred to the city of Imperial as a police officer for three years.  Lastly, he transferred to the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office where he then retired as a deputy sheriff sergeant after twenty-four years of service. Later Manuel returned to work for the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office as a sheriff bailiff for six more years.

Manuel passed on September 29, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Manuel is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Irene Avila, his children, Irma (Randy) Caldwell, Manuel Avila Jr., his grandchildren, Joseph (Samantha) Gonzales, Ashley Caldwell, Randy Caldwell Jr., and his great-grandchildren, Mason, Zoe, and Madelyn. He is survived also by his brothers, Manuel and Richard Avila, his sisters, Frances Jauregui, Sally Jauregui, Carmen Quezada, Rosa Lopez, Amparo Garcia, Christina Larranaga, and Isabel Contreras.

A Mass will be held for Manuel Monday, October 9, at St. Margaret Mary Church at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be Monday, October 9 at St. Margaret Mary Church at 9:00 a.m. Rosary will be held at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be after the Mass.

Manuel was preceded in death by his father, Richard Avila, and his mother, Maria Amparo Avila.
