Robert Dale Koon

June 15, 1928 — April 27, 2021

Robert Dale Koon (call me Bob) was born June 15, 1928, in El Monte, California to Kelvin C. Koon, Sr. and Leota Prescott Koon. He passed away on April 27, 2021, in Westmorland, California in the home he built. Bob was the second son and was joined eventually by four additional siblings. The children are Kelvin (Sonny) C. Koon, Jr., Richard (Dick) Koon, Virginia Koon Amidon, Kenneth Koon of Calipatria, and Don Koon of Peoria, Arizona. The family experienced the common hardships of enduring the “Great Depression.”

At 21, Bob married his high school sweetheart Eunice Hartsock. They were married for 71 years and raised four children — Kolin, Mark, Leslie, and Paul.

Bob is survived by his wife, Eunice; his children, Kolin (Pam) of Tempe, Arizona, Mark (Brenda) of Dodge City, Kansas, Leslie Lambe of Brawley, and Paul (Susan) of Greeley Colorado; eight grandchildren, and 9.5 great-grandchildren (one not yet born).

A celebration of life will be held to honor Bob Koon on May 21, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. at Frye Chapel in Brawley, with a reception to follow at the Westmorland Community Presbyterian Church in Westmorland.

Dear Koons, especially Eunice, Bob was like another father to me. I hope he is in a better place, although better that Westmorland is a high bar indeed. To Kolin, Mark, Leslie, and Paul, as Roy Johnson said to me, you were raised by the best. Condolences to you all, Rex Lesicka
