Richard “Dick” Cowell

August 27, 1930 – September 25, 2019

Richard “Dick” Cowell, 89, was born August 27, 1930, in Bridgeport, CT, and passed away September 25, 2019, in Richmond Hill, GA. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force as a flight mechanic. On April 2,1955, he married Donna Drysdale in California. He served on the Mulberry Elementary School Board for 22 years and on the Brawley High School Board for four years. 

He was a farmer in the Imperial Valley for 30 years before moving to Purcell, OK, where he remodeled homes until his eyesight started diminishing. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in various positions. He was a kind and generous husband and father.

Dick is preceded in death by his wife, Donna, his daughter, Teri Anderson, son Doug Cowell, and grandson Taylor Cowell.

His is survived by his daughters, Sheri Gerhard of Purcell, OK., and Michelle Bishop of Utah, his sons, Keith Cowell (Socorro) of Imperial, and Brian Cowell (Kimberly) of Richmond Hill, GA., his sisters, Marian Norling and Agnes Frey, his sisters-in-law, Darlene Hayes and Mary Cowell, plus 10 grandchildren: Robert Zavala (Stephanie), Matthew Cowell (Gina), Lee Gerhard (Paige), Sally Saldivar, Stacia Gerhard, Preston Cowell, Carter Cowell, Ashley Bishop, Joshua Bishop, Michael Bishop and his five great grandchildren, Noah Cowell, Adrian Gerhard, Jecovah Gerhard, Preslee Gerhard, and Jaxon Gerhard.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 3, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. at Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Brawley, CA. with a memorial/burial service at Riverview Cemetery in Brawley Friday, October 4, at 9 a.m.
