Nathan Morgan Griggs

September 2, 1929 - June 16, 2022

Nathan Morgan Griggs, 92, of Brawley, CA passed away peacefully on June 16, 2022.

Nathan was born on September 2, 1929, in Wyatt, MO to Leondas and Jettie Griggs. He attended Wyatt schools and worked at various jobs including truck driving and in cotton gins. He married Dorothy Brown in 1948. After making several trips to Brawley to help set up and work in cotton gins, Nathan, Dorothy and their children Dale and Cheryl made Brawley their permanent home in 1962. Nathan worked for the Imperial County as a truck driver until 1969 when he and his son started their trucking company, Griggs Freight Lines, where he worked as a driver and mechanic until his retirement in 1997. Nathan's daughter Cheryl traced their family's genealogy back to Richard Warren, a passenger on the Mayflower, allowing Nathan to become a member of the Mayflower Society. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and a member of the Western Avenue Baptist Church. He joined the Brawley Elks Lodge in 1971 where he remained a member until his passing. Nathan will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.

Nathan never knew a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone anywhere. He enjoyed traveling back to Missouri to visit with family and friends and to show his grandchildren where he was raised.
