Lawana G. Reeves

January 21, 1968 — April 16, 2020

Lawana was born January 21, 1968 in El Centro, California and grew up in Imperial. She played volleyball and softball while attending Imperial High School and graduated from there in 1986. She was also a member of 4-H and Imperial High School FFA, raising lambs and steers. She began riding horses as a young girl and became a very accomplished horsewoman. She belonged to the Barbara Worth Brigadettes and the Imperial Valley Team Penning Association, having participated with both groups in the Brawley Cattle Call Rodeo numerous times. She was also a member of the Brawley Cattle Call Rodeo Queen Committee.

Lawana’s pride and joy was her daughter Molly, whom she taught to ride and coached her softball team. She also taught many other children to ride as well.

She attended Western Avenue Baptist Church and loved her job at Lawrence Cox Ranches.

Lawana passed away one year ago at the age of 52 on April 16, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Gordy Reeves. She is survived by her daughter Molly Pole of Brawley; brothers Wesley Reeves of Imperial and Mike Reeves of Tatum, Texas; and sister Cheryl Pierce of Benton, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, April 16, at 4 p.m. at Western Avenue Baptist Church at 555 No. Western Avenue in Brawley.
