Carlos Paredes Sr.

November 8, 1931 — November 24, 2020

Mr. Carlos Paredes Sr., a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away to be with our Lord on November 24, 2020 at the age of 89. Carlos Paredes Sr. Was born on November 8, 1931 in Cocula, Jalisco, Mexico. He migrated from Mexico to the United States through a government Bracero Labor program in 1958. 

He worked as a farmer in the Imperial Valley for over 60 years. He worked in the United Farm Worker Union that Cesar Chavez helped found to improve pay and working conditions for farm laborers.  

Mr. Paredes helped improve the farming irrigation fields, accidentally creating “El Surco Loco,” which still is in use today in the farming community.  

On November 16, 1959, Carlos married his loving wife, Maria Ninfa Hernandez, and together they raised six children in El Centro, California.

Mr. Paredes became a proud US Citizen in 1993. He enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with his family on Sunday evenings.  

Carlos Paredes Sr. was proceeded in death by his daughter Francisca Flor. 

He is survived by his wife Maria Ninfa Paredes and his five children, Marisa, Rosa, Carlos Jr.,  Javier, Norma, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

A  Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 16, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Frye Mortuary Chapel at 799 South Brawley Ave. Brawley California . The service will be followed by burial service on Thursday December 17, at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.
