Ana Marie Soto

Ana Marie Soto

October 3, 1960 — December 30, 2020

Due to complications of MS, our beloved Marie was called home to Heaven on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 with her children by her side. Marie’s shining personality, bright smile, and infectious attitude for life was an inspiration to her family and so many people around her.

Her love of music resulted in taking most of us to our first concert. What stands out most about Marie was a God-given gift and passion for education. Marie began with her first job as a resource teacher aide at Hidalgo school while attending IVC and graduating from San Diego State University. She then concluded her higher education at Point Loma Nazarene University, teaching at Martin Luther King Elementary Logan Heights, to come back home and use her gift to serve the Lord in the Catholic school sector.  After a year of teaching a kinder/first grade combo at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Calexico, Marie went to work at Sacred Heart School in Brawley.

She went on to have two children who were the loves of her life and her reason to fight a good fight when she was diagnosed with MS. This did not stop her one bit! Marie went on to continue to live her life for Christ and her family, never wavering or complaining. Marie will be greatly missed but she is finally free and in the presence of her Lord. Her family will follow her example and be #SotoStrong!

Marie’s family would like to thank everyone for the outpour of love being shown. To Marie’s caregivers, we cannot express our gratitude enough. You hold a special place in our hearts as you all did in hers. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Please feel free to donate to any MS Society in Marie’s name, she would love that!

Marie is survived by her parents, Joe and Annie Soto; her son, Joshua Soto (Melanie) and daughter, JoAnn Soto (Aron); and her sisters, Connie Soto-Subia (Manny) and Grace Soto-Chan (Alan).
