BRAWLEY — The Brawley Police Department received the report of a possible deceased child on Thursday, November 7, at around 10:30 a.m., at an apartment complex on the 200 block of West E Street, according to a recent press release from the police.

Officers responded and discovered a 19-month-old deceased child located within an apartment.

During the investigation, the child’s mother, 23-year-old Tania Martinez of Brawley, was contacted on scene and taken into custody without incident.

She was later booked into the Imperial County jail on the criminal charge of alleged involuntary manslaughter.

This remains an ongoing criminal investigation. At this time, further details will not be released concerning the investigation.
