EL CENTRO — The El Centro Police received a call from the El Centro Regional Medical Center of a stabbing victim on Friday, July 12, around 9:20 a.m. The victim reported he was at a fast-food restaurant located in the 300 block of North Imperial Ave. when he was randomly stabbed once by a subject for no apparent reason.

Officers immediately responded to the area to look for the suspect.

The ECPD received a report of a second stabbing that had just occurred in front of a business at 10:02 a.m., in the 600 block of North Imperial. The second victim was also taken to ECRMC for treatment.

Officers located the suspect in the 700 block of North Imperial who was quickly arrested without any further injuries to the public. The suspect was identified as the individual who stabbed both victims. Both incidents are still currently under investigation; however, primary evidence indicates both assaults were unprovoked and the victims had no prior relationship with the suspect.
