EL CENTRO — Were you one of those who took up the hobby of sewing during the pandemic? The need for face masks encouraged many people to get out their sewing machines or go out and buy a sewing machine which in turn led to them picking up a new hobby.

The Desert Quilters of the Imperial Valley encourages those new sewing hobbyists to come learn about sewing and what guild members have to offer in both the skill and resources needed for the craft of sewing. The March general meeting will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the El Centro Library.

The Desert Quilters Guild of the Imperial Valley is a non-profit organization promoting quilting excellence through education and community service projects.  The organization is open to individuals who are interested in the art of fabric thru quilts and quilt making, home arts and sewing projects.  The guild's focus is to preserve, to be a source of information and inspiration, to perpetuate a high quality of excellence in quilting and related arts, and to be a gathering for people with a common interest.  Guild meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month.  Business meeting & programs which may include technique demonstrations, Show and Tell by guild members and speakers, are all part of the guild experience.
