IMPERIAL — The city of Imperial held its monthly meeting August 7 to discuss the notice of termination of the chamber’s lease agreement. However, council member Darrell Pechtl asked to postpone the item due to the absence of council member James Tucker.
During the meeting, the Imperial City Council was to act in the termination of the Imperial Chamber, which also includes the tenancy of the city’s facility currently occupied by the chamber located at 101 East 4th Street in Imperial.
“I think it’s something all five of us should have a chance to have a voice on.” said Mayor Pro-tem Darrel Pechtl.
“I would suggest in terms of timing, you have an agreement of termination without cause if you were to take an action 30 days from now,” said City Attorney Dennis H. Morita. “It’s effective at the end of 30 days. If you were to take an action next council meeting, you’re still looking at September to September 30.”
Geoff Dale, a city council member motioned to table the discussion until the next meeting, to be held August 14.
