BRAWLEY — A hit and run Wednesday evening, October 14, left one Brawley pedestrian dead, according to a press release from the Brawley Police Department.
The victim — identified as 38-year-old female and Brawley resident Kristin Marie Delgado — was struck and killed by a hit and run vehicle on the 400 block of West Main Street at approximately 9 p.m.
The suspected vehicle, which fled the scene, was described as a gray, late-model Dodge pickup truck with a camper shell. The vehicle is believed to have sustained major damage to the front right portion of the vehicle and was seen headed toward Westmorland on Highway 86, according to the Imperial Valley Scanner Radio Facebook page.
Rosalind Servin, volunteer with Brawley Feed the Need and close friend of the deceased, said Delgado “named her only child after me, which I always felt so blessed by” and her friend carries a special place in her heart.
“Kristi was for certain a free-spirited woman! She will be missed,” Servin wrote on her Facebook page.
Delgado is survived by her adult child.
Servin publicly asked for prayers for Delgado’s family and Delgado’s boyfriend.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing and anyone with further information is encouraged to contact the Brawley Police Department at (760) 344-2111.
