Brief Window of Opportunity to Apply for CHP Fast Approaching

A fatality occurred Saturday, November 21, after a young man’s vehicle rolled on Evan Hewes Highway shortly after noon.

According to the CHP report, a 24-year-old male was headed east on Evan Hewes Highway, just east of Mets Road at an unknown speed. The report said he was wearing a seat belt.

The CHP did not have a reason for why his 1999 Ford veered to the right off the road onto the dirt shoulder. The investigation showed the man overcorrected to the left, causing him to lose control of his truck and roll. He was partially ejected and as a result of the accident, the driver succumbed to his injuries. The report said impairment did not appear to be a factor in the collision, which remains under investigation.
