IMPERIAL — The Imperial Police Department responded on January 4, at 3:21 a.m. to a battery investigation involving an El Centro police officer, according to a recent ECPD press release.

The preliminary investigation resulted in the arrest of ECPD officer Alejandra Hurtado. She was ultimately booked on multiple charges.

The Imperial Police Department is conducting the criminal investigation into the alleged incident. The El Centro Police Department has opened a formal internal affairs investigation into the alleged misconduct. The employee has been placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the two investigations, per the report.
