ECPD ask public for help to find shooter

EL CENTRO — El Centro Police officers were dispatched to a report of a fight in the area of the 300 block Villa in the City of El Centro on March 28. The call was later updated to include reports of multiple gunshots heard and a person being shot.

According to the release, officers arrived in the area and located the victim, a 40-year-old El Centro resident, who appeared to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Fire department and AMR paramedics arrived on scene and rendered aid to the man who was later flown to a trauma center due to the severity of his injuries.

Preliminary information provided to officers indicated a White Cadillac may have been involved in the shooting and was seen leaving the area. Officers checked the area and located a Cadillac similar to the one described by witnesses on the 300 block of Eucalyptus Avenue. Four adult males who were near the vehicle were also contacted by officers. During the investigation and a search of the vehicle and area surrounding the residence, officers located several firearms.

The release states the men were arrested and taken to the El Centro Police Department for further investigation. Three of the men were booked at the Imperial County Jail for their involvement and a fourth released without charges. The El Centro Police Department Criminal Investigation Division believes the actual shooter remains at large. He is described as a Hispanic male adult, 20-25 years of age, last seen wearing a white long sleeve shirt and black shorts. He is further described as having a tattoo on his face with the letters “LP”. He is considered armed, and dangerous.

The victim remains in the hospital and is currently listed in stable condition. Anyone with information about this incident are encouraged to contact the El Centro Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at 760.337-4525.
