Motorcyclist hurt taking evasive action


EL CENTRO – On Wednesday, September 27, close to 6 pm, the California Highway Patrol units received a radio call of a motorcyclist being down on Anza road, east of Hammers Road.

Units responded and encountered a subject being treated by Gold Cross Ambulance emergency personnel.

The motorcyclist was identified as a 40 year old male, from Imperial, riding a 2004 Honda CBR 1000.

He was driving eastbound on Anza Road, east of Hammers Road, at a stated speed of 40-45 miles per hour when a medium sized, light-colored dog ran across the roadway directly into the path of the motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist was unable to take evasive action and the motorcycle struck the dog. He lost control of the motorcycle and was ejected. He suffered fractured rib and a punctured lung. He was wearing a helmet.

Investigating Officer Cardenas said the collision was still under investigation.
