Long-time Valley Resident Honored On Her Centennial Birthday

EL CENTRO — The Imperial County Board of Supervisors presented Margaret Ann Whitehead Sperber with a resolution honoring her Centennial Birthday during Tuesday’s Board Meeting. Margaret was born on June 25, 1916 in Long Beach, California and moved to Brawley in 1923 with her family to start a new life. She graduated from Brawley Union High School and attended Brawley Jr. College, now IVC, and received a Secretarial Certificate from California College of Commerce in Long Beach. Margaret lived in Holtville for over 63 years and served the community as President of the Jr. Woman’s Club, Holtville Woman’s Club and Imperial County Republican Woman. Margaret has three children, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and two great-great-great grandchildren.
