Local residents and Sheriff’s deputies team up for quick arrest in arson case


hay stacks222HEBER – On Monday, May 27th, around 7:00 p.m., a haystack fire was reported by local residents in the area of Pitzer and Correll roads in Heber. 



The reporting party advised Sheriff’s Office dispatchers that five juveniles were in the area and provided a description for responding patrol deputies.

Deputies were able to quickly arrive on scene and detain all subjects in question.
An investigation was conducted and two subjects, a juvenile and an 18 year old adult, identified as Freddie Jr. Cervantes of Heber, were booked for arson and conspiracy.

The victim estimated the total loss of property at approximately $2,500.00.
The quick work of the local residents and the Sheriff’s deputies led to a quick resolution to this crime.
