Vehicle Stop Leads to Discovery of Two Smuggled Migrants

YUMA — A report of suspicious activity led to a vehicle stop by Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents Friday, April 30, in which two US citizens were found to be smuggling two migrants, according to a press release.

The suspected migrants were spotted getting into a white Dodge Charger near Calexico.

The vehicle headed east on Interstate 8 and was located by a Yuma Air Branch air interdiction agent as it entered Yuma Sector’s area of operations.

Agents, assisted by the Yuma Police Department, conducted a vehicle stop on Avenue A and 1st Street and confirmed the suspected smuggling event. The 20-year-old driver and 18-year-old passenger — both from California — were found to have previous smuggling arrests.

Agents arrested the two smugglers and migrants and seized the vehicle.
