BRAWLEY — Brawley Police Officers responded May 18, at about 2:38 p.m., to the 1200 block of “H” St. in reference to shots fired. The initial investigation revealed that a juvenile victim was transported to Pioneers Memorial Hospital with gunshot wounds, according to a Brawley Police press release.

This was an isolated incident; the victim was specifically targeted, and it does not appear to be a random attack. At about 5:45 p.m. two juvenile suspects and one adult suspect were located in the area of Interstate 8 and Ogilby Road, per the report. The two juvenile suspects were subsequently booked into juvenile hall for conspiracy to commit murder.

The adult suspect was identified as 18-year-old, Richard Timothy Horta, from Brawley, and was booked into the Imperial County Jail and is being held on a $1,000,000.00 bail.

In total, 10 units between multiple police departments responded to the incident. Two Highway Patrol units also responded.

The suspects were apprehended in Winterhaven by law enforcement officials.

This is an on-going criminal investigation; anyone with additional information pertaining to this case should contact Detective Sergeant Green at (760) 351-3018 or via e-mail agreen@brawley-ca.gov.
