BRAWLEY — The police discovered a dead body after a traffic incident over the weekend led them to search a car.
The Brawley Police Department officers contacted a vehicle during a traffic incident Sunday, February 7, around 11 p.m.
The driver — later identified as 35-year-old Miguel Romero, out of National City — was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit. Romero was taken into custody without further incident. An unidentified passenger fled on foot but was not located after a search of the area.
Upon processing the vehicle, officers discovered a deceased person inside of the vehicle. Imperial County Sheriff’s Department CSI Unit and Coroner’s Office responded to the scene to assist with processing. The deceased person was later identified as 23-year-old Daniella Gonzalez of Brawley. Family of the deceased has been notified.
During the course of the investigation, two individuals were arrested and booked into the Imperial County Jail. Miguel Romero and 32-year-old Irma Magaña of Brawley were booked on the charge of murder.
