Brawley Police response to a call Wednesday evening possibly saved a life while apprehending fleeing suspect.

The police department responded to a call May 11, shortly after 6:10 p.m., to Cesar Chavez and Main Street in reference to an in-progress fight involving a knife. 

As Brawley Police Officers arrived at the scene, they saw Michael Anthony Gonzalez leaving the area. Michael Gonzalez attempted to elude officers but was ultimately apprehended without incident. Multiple weapons were collected at the scene and the Brawley Investigations Team assumed the on-going investigating.

Due to extent of the injuries the victim sustained; he was flown via Reach air Ambulance Service to the Desert Regional Hospital. At the time of this press release, the victim is currently in stable condition and expected to fully recover. This continues to be an on-going criminal investigation.
