BRAWLEY — Miguel Romero, one of the suspects reportedly in connection to the fatality of Brawley resident Daniella Gonzalez, appeared remotely from the Imperial County jail for a motion hearing Monday, April 5, at the Imperial County Superior Courthouse in Brawley.
Romero is currently being charged with the violation of PC 187 (murder) along with Irma Magana who is the other co-defendant alleged to have been involved in the death of Gonzalez.
During Monday’s hearing, a motion to disqualify Romero’s current counsel John Breeze was presented by the district attorney.
The Honorable Judge Christopher Plourd denied the motion after reviewing the details.
Plourd said he found no circumstances set forth in Breeze’s declaration that highlighted a conflict and therefore notified the court of no good cause to disrupt Romero’s defense representation.
