IVC Foundation logoIMPERIAL VALLEY COLLEGE – Monday, October 3, 2013, Imperial Valley College expects to host several thousand high school juniors and seniors, their parents, IVC students, and other interested community members October 7 for the annual Career Fair and College and University Day.

The 2013 event will be held in the DePaoli Sports Complex from 9 a.m. to noon.

The Career Fair is designed to assist students in discovering challenging careers, promote the linkage between educational preparation and employment opportunities, and assist employers in identifying qualified potential job applicants.

Traditionally, College and University Day has been the Valley’s largest single gathering of representatives from public and private colleges and universities.

To date, more than 30 colleges and universities have registered to attend and distribute information regarding admission requirements, financial aid, scholarships, housing and other crucial information for prospective students.

The Career Fair will feature displays by local and regional employers, such as representatives from the armed forces, Homeland Security, public safety agencies, health care services, retail services, unions, utilities and environmental/conservation agencies.

Also, for those students planning to begin their college careers at Imperial Valley College, there will be a number of tables set up with representatives from various instructional divisions from the IVC campus.

Annually, at least half of all graduating seniors from Valley high schools begin their college careers at IVC. In some years, up to two thirds of the graduates have made IVC their first choice to continue their education.
