IMPERIAL- An orchestra of devilish screams and haunting theme music beckoned brave participants as they warily crept into the Tunnel of Terror Thursday evening at the Imperial Valley Expo.
Armed with only a flashlight, a tour guide led groups of adults and children through a maze of scary clowns, questionable sounds, zombies and other Halloween favorites in the converted expo building.
Open for only two nights, the Imperial Valley Expo celebrated its second year hosting the event in conjunction with the local Border Patrol who created the annual tradition for the Junior Explorer Program for Kids.
This year,  15 Border Patrol agents and 11 “Explorers†participated in the Junior Explorer Program for Kids,  and together, they volunteered to organize and put on the event.
Border Patrol Agent and Lead Explorer Coordinator Elmer Perez stated, “We had a partnership that was previously done with El Centro, but the fairgrounds approached us and we decided to team up with them.â€
To gain entry, attendees donated either a dollar for the Junior Explorers Program for Kids, or a can of food to donate to the Imperial Valley Food Bank.
