IMPERIAL COUNTY – On January 23, an Imperial County Jail inmate identified as 21-year-old Jocelyn Sandoval was found unresponsive in her cell by Sheriffâ€™s Office staff.
She was located at about 3:00 a.m. during a routine inspection of the module in which she was housed. Immediate medical attention was provided by Jail staff and the victim was transported to El Centro Regional Medical Center.
Jocelyn Sandoval was subsequently airlifted to the Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Desert where she was pronounced deceased in the late evening hours.
Sheriffâ€™s Office Investigators responded to the scene and an investigation was initiated. The preliminary investigation has revealed injuries which are indicative of suicide. The cause and manner of death is pending an investigation by the Riverside Coronerâ€™s Office.
