IID gives grants to Valley cities and IVC for summer water activities

Valley mayors and IVC are presented checks by Dippy Duck

EL CENTRO – The Imperial Irrigation District provided $16,000 in grants to Imperial Valley cities and Imperial Valley College to help finance summer water activities in 2015 as a part of their Water Safety Campaign.

Between April 27 and June 9, IID made numerous presentations to as many as 30,000 students in elementary, middle, and high schools to raise awareness about the dangers of canals, while promoting safe water practices.

“Stay Active. Play Safe. Be Cool” is this year’s campaign slogan and the mascot continues to be Dippy Duck, whose rules are:

1 – Never swim in a canal

2 – Never play, run, walk, or ride a bicycle near a canal

3 – Never jump into a canal
