ID Theft Suspect Deported from Mexico

EL CENTRO — The U.S. Border Patrol announced its collaboration with the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office, El Centro Police Department, and U.S. Custom, in working with Mexican Liaison authorities, PGJBC and INM, in the detention and extradition process from Mexicali, Baja California Mexico of Jose Roberto Rodriguez (31) on December 29, 2016.

According to the report, Rodriguez, an El Centro resident had skipped bail and fled into Mexico. At the time of his detention, Rodriguez had in his possession multiple forged identification cards, forged credit cards and sophisticated forgery equipment

The U.S. Border Patrol stated Rodriguez is a defendant in a current El Centro Police Department criminal complaint regarding multiple charges that include identity theft involving ten or more victims, forgery, Access card fraud and possession of stolen property. Rodriguez is also a suspect in a criminal investigation by the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office for similar charges.

Rodriguez was booked into the Imperial County Jail and his bail was set at $25,000.
