On December 30, 2015 at around 4:40 p.m. California Highway Patrol (CHP) was advised of a traffic collision on Interstate 8 east of Dogwood Road. An ambulance was already enroute.
Upon the arrival, Officer J.M. Flores found a white BMW X5 located on its wheels on the right shoulder of eastbound I-8 with visible signs of roll over damage.
The driver was traveling eastbound on I-8 and for an unknown reason, the driver lost control of the BMW and drove onto the right shoulder where it rolled over. The BMW rolled over several times where it finally came to rest on the right dirt shoulder of eastbound I-8.
During the roll over, the 56-year-old female from El Centro was ejected and sustained fatal injuries.
The driver, a 26-year-old female from El Centro, sustained abrasions and complained of pain in the left shoulder and was transported by Gold Cross Ambulance to El Centro Regional Medical Center (ECRMC) where she was treated for her injuries.
The 76-year-old female, rear passenger, complained of chest and lower back pain and was transported by Reach Air Ambulance to S.D.S.U. hospital where she was treated for her injuries.
The 22-year-old female, rear passenger from El Centro, who complained of pain to the left arm was transported by Gold Cross Ambulance to El Centro Regional Medical Center (ECRMC) where she was treated for her injuries.
The cause of this collision is still under investigation.
