IMPERIAL COUNTY — The Imperial County Area Agency on Aging (ICAAA) announced that it is accepting applications for the Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) member position on their Advisory Council. Currently the ICAAA has one (1) vacant HICAP position. An individual that is either a HICAP program volunteer or client, once selected by the Advisory Council, can fill the position.Â
The Imperial County Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council serves to advise the ICAAA regarding issues important to Imperial County seniors and their caregivers. The Advisory Council members support the ICAAA with the following purposes: annual public hearings, needs assessments, recommendations, program monitoring, and advocacy.Â
The composition of the Advisory Council is prescribed in the laws and regulations of the Older Americans Act (Federal), as amended, and the Older Californians Act (State). All members are responsible to participate, as fully as possible, in all activities of the Council, including the development, revision, and approval of the Area Plan on Aging. Each member is required to be present, to serve on at least one committee, and attend scheduled meetings of the Advisory Council.Â
Interested individuals may find the application online at www.aaa24.org or at the Imperial County Area Agency on Aging office located at 778 West State Street in El Centro. Applications are due by Friday, March 17, 2023, and elections are to be conducted during the regularly scheduled Advisory Council Meeting in April 2023.Â
