BRAWLEY — The 2016 Annual Dinner & Branding Iron Award Ceremony took place Thursday night at the Del Rio Country Club, and Brawley businesswoman Liz Gonzales was honored with the Branding Iron Award for her community service.
“Our overall goal for the event is to thank our members,” explained Gracie Romero, office manager of the Brawley Chamber of Commerce. “We wanted to thank them for our membership and for supporting us throughout the year and being a part of everything that we do.”
The dinner event was held to thank the members of the Brawley Chamber of Commerce. The Branding Iron Award has been around since 1976 and is awarded to recipients for their hard work in the community.
“This is the 112th annual meeting for the chamber we’ve held,” said Romero. “There’s been a lot of changes in the chamber. We have a new executive director and we’re excited for the next fiscal year and all the new ideas that we have. We’re looking forward to the future and growing the chamber.”
After an introductory speech was given based on her notable achievements, Elizabeth “Liz” Gonzales, Vice President of the Brawley Chamber of Commerce and owner of Hart Insurance, was awarded the 2016 Branding Iron award.
“Everything turned out great,” commented Romero. “We had a good attendance and we had a lot of support from our partners and sponsors.”
