EL CENTRO – The El Centro Chamber of Commerce held its 109th Annual Silent Auction and Dinner Meeting, Thursday evening, June 18th,   and “passed the baton” from 2014-2015 president, Les Smith to this year’s president, David Tyler.

Tyler is the Vice-President of Tyler Insurance Agency, and has been active in the community throughout his career.

Tyler previously served on the executive committee of the Board of Directors of the El Centro Chamber. He is a third generation president; his father filled the position in 1970 and before that, his grandfather served as president in 1932.

Tyler’s brother, Allen, who served 3 terms as a director, committee chairman, and executive committee member of the Chamber said, “I am really proud of him.”

The Naval Air Facility hosted the event, treating Chamber members to a dinner meeting and accommodating the silent auction.

Auction items ranged in price from $150 – $200 plus. Items included gift packages advertised as “Couples Getaway,” “The Honeymooners,” Maui Jim Sunglasses, trips to Sea World, and more.

Wayne Marcus, Navy Command Master Chief, said, “The Chamber does a lot in the community. We support their efforts.”

The annual dinner meeting comes at the end of each fiscal year. Along with celebrating the leadership of the previous president and welcoming the incoming president, the members also meet to discuss the direction of the upcoming year.
