Eagle Scout Project to put up Vet’s Memorial at County Airport

EL CENTRO – The County Board of Supervisors approved a contribution of $5000 to the Boy Scout of America Troop No. 4076 for their proposed Imperial County Veteran’s Memorial Monument to be located at the Imperial Airport.


Troop member Joaquin Villegas proposed this memorial as his “Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project” and upon completion the memorial will be donated to the County of Imperial.


The entire $100,000 project will be funded through donations. The City of Imperial and community members have pledged to upkeep the memorial.


Villegas has created a FaceBook page at Imperial-County Veterans Memorial and his email is ic.vets.memorial@gmail.com for those with question or desiring to donate to the memorial.


Villegas said it is a tax-exempt donation and checks can be made payable to  “BSA Troop 4076 I.C. Veterans Memorial Project”.  Send mail to Troop 4076, Imperial County Veterans Memorial Project, P.O. Box 913, Imperial. CA 92251. He can send back a certificate stating your donation was tax deductible.
