CALEXICO – Jaime E. Estrada M.D. celebrated the grand opening of his new community-based facility with a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday evening where city and county officials, patients, friends and family welcomed him in his new endeavor.
The new family practice clinic is located at 1001 Highway 98, Calexico (previously Sun Community Bank) and is equipped with a laboratory and six examination rooms.
“I am very excited to continue to serve my community by expanding my facility,†said Estrada. “This was a much awaited project and I am very thankful for all those who helped me achieve this goal, and especially my wife who was there every step of the way.â€
Nurse Practitioner Edna Esquer said she was excited to join Estrada’s new endeavor. Esquer met Estrada at Clinicas de Salud del Pueblo in 2007 where they were both employed.
“I’m glad to be part of this care group and honored to be working with Dr. Estrada,†said Esquer. “I see the Calexico population growing every day and with the lack of primary care physicians, I am happy we are expanding and being able to offer my services to the community.â€
Services are offered to children, adults and seniors and consist of annual physical examinations, health evaluations, acute care, cancer treatment, diabetic treatment, electrocardiograms, and basic lab work.
Previously, Estrada shared a medical facility in Calexico with Dr. Mario Ceja, however, with the increase of patients, Estrada decided it was time to expand into a bigger facility.
“I wanted to expand myself,†said Estrada. “I usually see between 20-30 people per day and definitely needed a bigger space.â€
During the ceremony, several patients looked on from the newly-completed waiting area. One man said he and his wife were thrilled when they heard about the new clinic, conveniently located a few miles from their home.
“It is much more convenient now that Dr. Estrada’s office is closer to our home,†said the man.
