Imperial Approves City Manager Contract for Stefan T. Chatwin

IMPERIAL —  Following a closed session, the Imperial city council appointed Stefan Thomas Chatwin as new city manager on September 21. Mayor Douglas Cox announced Chatwin’s contract and hiring was approved with a unanimous 5-0 vote.

Chatwin is a 1993 graduate of Brigham Young University. Upon receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations, he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force serving for six years in various parts of the country and abroad.

In 1999, Chatwin separated from the Air Force and spent the next two years in the library software and solutions industry developing business strategies and building strategic partnerships.

Although he enjoyed a measure of success in the business world, Chatwin said he always felt there was something missing in his career. When an opportunity to serve as the Director of Community Services in Ogden, Utah became available, he accepted the challenge and said he has never regretted that decision. The experience led him to Santaquin, Utah where he served as City Manager for the next four years followed by almost seven years as the City Administrator for Hayden, Idaho.

Chatwin is a member of ICMA and enjoys the challenges of helping sustain and increase the quality of life in a community. He said is excited about this new opportunity with Imperial and looks forward to working with the staff, elected officials, and citizens to continue moving Imperial in a positive direction. Chatwin plans to begin his term as City Manager on October 3.

  1. Maybe this City Manager will change back the job descriptions and not just settle… Maybe keep certain things in-house.
