EL CENTRO – With church grounds decorated and transformed into the likeness of a giant cave, Christ Community Church began its annual Vacation Bible School June 16, bringing in over 400 children to explore this year’s theme of “Cave Quest.”

Attendees began their journey learning Bible stories about Jesus’ death on the cross and accession into heaven, then moved on to other stations like spelunking time, where they got to play sports and other physical activities. The church also provided snack time to energize the kids for the exciting, fast-paced program.

“Our goal is to show the children the love of Christ and that is what is important to us,” said VBS coordinator Sarah Nunn, “A lot of time also goes into this event and we are glad we get to share these good times with the children and their families.”

Children and parents gathered in the main chapel for one giant celebration of their new-found love of Christ. As the seats filled up, everyone sang praise songs to share all they learned from the past few days. The evening ended with a word of prayer talking of how blessed everyone is to have found Jesus.

“We have been so blessed this year with our Vacation Bible School,” said Coordinator Alex Cardenas, “and VBS is one of our favorite events of the year and I am so pleased we had such an amazing turnout.”
